The India Internet Foundation had the honor of hosting Shri Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), during his recent visit to the Foundation’s office. The visit served as a significant opportunity to showcase the progress and impact of the Advanced Internet Operations Research in India (AIORI) project.
AIORI, supported by the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), is a pioneering national initiative focused on building an open, distributed Internet measurement platform tailored to India’s diverse network landscape.
During the visit, the IIFON team shared updates on AIORI’s key deliverables, which include:

Deployment of real-time measurement infrastructure across Indian networks

Public observability tools for DNS, IPv6, routing anomalies, and root server latency

Community-driven data collection and analysis

Open-source tools to support national-level Internet research and diagnostics
Shri Sushil Pal praised the AIORI initiative, acknowledging its role in enhancing Internet transparency, resilience, and data-driven policymaking. He appreciated the open and collaborative spirit behind the project and emphasized its relevance in supporting India’s digital transformation goals.
The visit reflected MeitY’s growing support for homegrown research and infrastructure solutions that strengthen India’s cyber-physical backbone. The India Internet Foundation remains committed to working in close collaboration with government, academia, and the Internet community to expand AIORI’s reach and impact.
