Patna, 5th March 2024

The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) Patna recently hosted an outreach workshop in collaboration with Advanced Internet Operations Research in India (AIORI), aiming to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world Internet infrastructure operations. The event brought together students, faculty, and professionals interested in Internet technologies, standards, and research. A key highlight of the workshop was a session by Mr. Anand Raje, who shared insights from his extensive experience in Internet infrastructure and introduced participants to the work being done by AIORI. His talk focused on the evolution of the Internet in India, challenges in DNS and IPv6 deployment, and the need for community-driven measurement and monitoring tools.

He also presented AIORI’s various initiatives such as real-time Internet measurement platforms, latency analysis tools, and projects that contribute to the development of open standards and protocols. The session emphasized the importance of open-source collaboration and active engagement with global Internet governance and research communities. Through interactive discussions and live demonstrations, the workshop inspired participants to think critically about the Internet’s operational layers and explore opportunities to contribute to open Internet research. Events like these play a vital role in strengthening India’s technical capacity and encouraging the next generation to actively participate in shaping the Internet’s future.
