NIXI Headquarters, New Delhi, 5th May 2025
As part of the ongoing efforts under the Internet Governance and Capacity Building Scheme by the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), a dedicated workshop was held on May 5, 2025, at NIXI’s headquarters in New Delhi. The session offered participating interns a rare and valuable opportunity to explore the AIORI (Advanced Internet Operations Research in India) initiative in depth.
Guiding the session were Mr. Anupam Agarwal, Chair of the India Internet Foundation (IIFON), and Mr. Anand Raje, CTO of IIFON—both visiting from Kolkata. The mentors introduced interns to the architecture, goals, and national significance of AIORI, which is more than just a research platform—it is a mission to build resilient, secure, and inclusive Internet infrastructure for India.
The discussion covered key aspects of AIORI’s real-time Internet measurement capabilities, performance tracking across diverse geographies, and its contributions to open-source development, standards prototyping, and national policy support. Interns were exposed to how AIORI enables informed decision-making across technical, academic, and policy domains.
Deeply appreciative of the experience, the interns expressed gratitude for the insights shared by the mentors and the chance to witness first-hand how initiatives like AIORI are shaping the backbone of India’s digital future.
The session underscored NIXI’s continued commitment to building local Internet expertise and empowering future leaders in governance and infrastructure development.
