Sri Sri University, Cuttack, 7th March 2025
A hands-on workshop at Sri Sri University, Cuttack was conducted with students from the university, faculties and IIFON leaders Mr. Anand Raje and Mr. Anupam Agrawal. The initiative aimed to engage students and faculty in critical aspects of Internet infrastructure and empower them to participate in India’s growing research and operational Internet ecosystem.
The workshop featured an intensive curriculum covering:
- Internet Measurement Networks (IMN): Introduction to active and passive measurement platforms and tools used for monitoring Internet performance.
- Internet Standards and Protocols: Understanding the role of standards bodies like the IETF and the importance of open, interoperable standards.
- DNS and Routing: Deep dive into Domain Name System (DNS) operations, DNSSEC, and the structure of global and regional routing systems including BGP.
- Submarine Cable Infrastructure: Overview of global and regional undersea cable systems, landing stations in India, and their impact on Internet latency and resilience.
The sessions were led by Mr. Anand Raje, Chief Technology Officer of IIFON, and Mr. Anupam Agrawal, Chair of IIFON, who brought their extensive expertise in Internet technologies and policy to the discussions. Their guidance and interactive sessions provided participants with valuable insights into the workings of critical Internet infrastructure.
As part of the outreach initiative, several enthusiastic students from Sri Sri University were selected for internship opportunities with AIORI. These interns will now contribute to ongoing projects on DNS measurements, IPv6 readiness, submarine cable observability, and protocol research.
The workshop was conducted with the active support of faculty and technical coordinators of Sri Sri University. This engagement not only strengthens academic-industry collaboration but also establishes Sri Sri University as a proactive node in India’s Internet research fabric.
