The workshop, organized under the AIORI 1 initiative, marked one of the five zonal events aimed at fostering technical capacity, awareness, and collaboration across India’s Internet infrastructure ecosystem.

Technical Deep Dive with Anand Raje

The workshop opened with a technical session led by Anand Raje, where participants were introduced to the AIORI platform—an open-source, event-driven Internet measurement network. Anand offered an insightful walkthrough of the architecture, key components of AIORI, showcasing how the platform supports advanced DNS, IPv6, and latency analysis. The session highlighted the importance of real-time, distributed measurements in strengthening the performance and security of India’s Internet infrastructure.

Participants got hands-on demonstrations of tools being developed under the AIORI project.

Standards and Strategy: Sessions by Anupam Agrawal and Abhijaan Bhattacharya

The second half of the workshop delved into the standards and compliance ecosystem vital for Internet and telecom innovation in India.

Anupam Agrawal took the stage to discuss the role of standards bodies such as Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and ISO, offering insights into how Indian technologists can contribute to and benefit from global standardization efforts. He emphasized the need for aligning innovations like AIORI with recognized frameworks to ensure interoperability, scalability, and compliance.

Following this, Abhijan Bhattacharya provided an industry perspective, focusing on telecom standards and their implementation within large-scale systems. His talk emphasized the significance of Indigenous participation in international standards development, urging young innovators to collaborate with entities like BIS and ITU.

Bridging Knowledge and Practice

This East Zone workshop not only advanced technical understanding but also built bridges between innovation and governance. It stressed the importance of open platforms like AIORI that support both experimentation and standardization—elements critical for India’s digital growth.

With enthusiastic participation and meaningful exchanges, the event reinforced the AIORI 1 vision: to create a collaborative and measurable future for India’s Internet.
