The AIORI 1 Workshop Series continued its impactful journey with a successful session in the North Zone, bringing together key figures from India’s Internet and standards ecosystem. The workshop aimed to foster regional awareness, technical knowledge, and policy engagement around Internet measurement and open standards.
Anand Raje, CTO of IIFON and architect of AIORI, led an in-depth technical session introducing participants to the architecture, capabilities, and real-world applications of the AIORI platform. He demonstrated how AIORI empowers stakeholders to conduct distributed, real-time Internet measurements with a focus on DNS, IPv6, and protocol observability, laying the foundation for a measurable and resilient Internet infrastructure.
Dr. John Jose, Vice Chair of IEEE India Council, spoke about the crucial role of academia in driving network research and how platforms like AIORI serve as bridges between theory and practical deployment. His insights encouraged collaboration between students, researchers, and technologists in building indigenous Internet tools.
Amitabh Singhal, Director-Designee at ICANN, provided a strategic perspective on India’s evolving role in global Internet governance. He highlighted the need for regional participation in multistakeholder forums and emphasized the importance of community-driven platforms like AIORI in reinforcing Internet transparency and accountability.
Pimmy Gandotra from TSDSI (Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India) focused on the alignment of technical innovation with international and national ICT standards. She encouraged engagement with TSDSI’s working groups.
This North Zone session was a testament to the power of cross-sector collaboration, bringing together voices from standards bodies, technical communities, academia, and global governance institutions. It reaffirmed AIORI’s mission of enabling an open, standardized, and inclusive Internet ecosystem across India.
